Meighan Carpenter, T.C.R.G., graduated with honors from Northwestern University with a B.S. in theatre in 1997. As an Irish dancer, she has performed onstage with a number of renowned Celtic musicians including Natalie MacMaster, Liz Carroll, John Doyle, Eileen Ivers, the Chieftains, and Cherish the Ladies. She passed the T.C.R.G. examination in June of 1999 and has been teaching Irish step dancing full-time in Raleigh ever since. Inis Cairde solo dancers have qualified for the World Championships, placed at the Southern Oireachtas and North American Championships, and have captured numerous team and dance drama awards, the most prestigious of which were a North American title in 2002, and a third place finish at the World Championships in Killarney in 2003. |
Popular amongst her colleagues as well, Meighan was elected to serve on the Southern Region Executive Board for four consecutive terms since 2001, and served as the first Southern Region representative to the Ethics Board of the Irish Dancing Teacher's Association of North America (IDTANA). Outside of her own teaching, she has been delighted to join the faculty at Swannannoa Gathering at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC as the Irish dancing instructor for Celtic Week from 2000-2002. During the summer of 2005 she spent two weeks teaching Irish dancing in Tokyo, Japan with Rince Japan. Locally, Meighan has worked as a choreographer for the Burning Coal Theatre Company, and is looking forward to an upcoming collaboration with the Triangle Wind Ensemble on May 29, 2011. Meighan has also been a guest speaker at Leesville's Middle School Career Day. She currently lives in Raleigh with her husband and two sons. |

Brita Kiser, T.C.R.G., began dancing with Inis Cairde while completing her undergraduate degree in biology at Duke University in 2000. A student of multiple forms of dance since childhood, Brita quickly progressed to the championship level and competed at the World Championships in 2003 in Killarney in both solos and dance drama. After multiple major championships as both a solo and team dancers, Brita eventually retired from competition in 2006 in order to focus on her teaching at Inis Cairde. In addition to teaching Irish dancing, Brita has also worked full-time teaching science at Green Hope High School in Cary, ad is currently pursuing her Masters in Science Education. She lives in Raleigh with her husband and two children. |
